APPLICATION OF OZONE THERAPY IN ISCHEMIC CEREBROVASCULAR DISEASE.

The cerebrovascular disease is an actual health problem, because of the high tendency to produce sequels in those who survive, limiting their physical capacities and their social and familiar development. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of ozone therapy in ischemic cerebrovascular disease, in acute, ancient and chronic phase. A group of patients, with this diagnose, that attend the Geriatric Service in Salvador Allende Hospital, during a period of 2 years were evaluated. Rectal ozone was daily administered, for a total of 20 sessions, in doses according to the enzymatic status. These patients were evaluated by clinical examination and their validity through the multidimensional evaluation method at the beginning and at the end of the treatment. Any antiaggregant medication was used, only physiotherapy was associated. Better results were obtained in the acute phase. The initial clinical stage improved in more than 80 % of the total of patients treated. An increase in the quality of life was obtained.
